Welcome to part two of this series. Today, I want us to consider another example in the person of Esau. For a mere bowl of porridge, Esau sold his birthright. He would not have died if he missed that meal, but he allowed the devil to magnify his emotions and appetite to the point that they became his only focus. The Bible recorded that he later regretted that decision and he sought for his inheritance with bitter tears, unfortunately it was too late for him by then, Genesis 25:29-34, Hebrews 12:17.
Consider also the daughter of Herodias. She requested for the head of John the Baptist when the King asked her for what she wanted, having danced to please him. That request was inspired by her ignorance and someone else’s hatred of God’s servant.
Sometimes God brings us before people of influence and we have the privilege of making requests from them. But due to ignorance and bitterness, some people end up making a mess of that opportunity. Joseph had a chance to request for the punishment of Potiphar and his wife for being unjustly imprisoned, but he overlooked that offense and was promoted to greater heights.
Beloved, may you not mismanage the favor of God and the men He brings into your life in Jesus name.
