Numbers 11:4 NKJV
Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat?
Beloved,
Beloved,
The mother of James and John in the New Testament wanted a status elevation for her children. She requested that they be granted to sit on either side with Jesus when He was glorified. That decision almost caused a rift among the other disciples because they saw it as selfish. It also sealed the fate of James’ death because it was at that point he told Jesus that he was willing to drink of the cup of Jesus’ baptism. Fortunately for John, he was divinely exempted because God gave him a kingdom assignment that required his being alive to fulfill it.
In essence, we must be mindful of our prayer requests to God. What is your motive for asking God what you are asking Him? Is it craving? Is it carnally motivated? Could it be that you are asking just to invoke envy and jealousy in others? Could it be that having that answer will cause you to swell up with pride and give you a sense of self-importance? Beloved, the state of craving is a state you must never find yourself in as a child of God. If you find yourself yielding to the stronghold of carnality and craving, trust God to help you break free from that bondage at once!
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
