2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

A doctrine is sound when it is in alignment with the scriptures. Biblical doctrines are ancient truths and pillars that cannot be altered. Generations come and go, but God’s word and His doctrines remain. It is not enough to be a Christian; you must accept and embrace biblical doctrines. Just as you obey the law of gravity without fully understanding it, humbly accept sound doctrines and stop looking for false teachers.
Many Christian have been battered by life because they are not building consistently with the doctrines of God. When you are guided by right doctrines, you are preserved by God’s word. Your inheritance is guaranteed to the degree at which you love sound doctrines.
Sound doctrines are usually hard to follow. They are usually non-trending truths. Many will easily find reasons to fault them. Sound doctrines may sound antisocial and make Christians look insensitive or overly righteous. However, shy away from the applause of men and receive the commendation of heaven. If you do not want to fall or regret your steps, live according to sound doctrines. Never exchange them for what is seemingly trending.
