John 14:16-17 NKJV
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

The past couple of days, we have talked about the necessity of walking in the Spirit as believers. Today, I want to tell you about the Holy Spirit and His function in the life of a born again person. The Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of God to man after the ascension of Jesus, John 16:7. The Christian journey would be difficult, nay impossible without the person of the Holy Spirit, which is why Jesus instructed His disciples to wait for the Promise of the Father – the Holy Spirit, Acts 1:4.
Though invisible, the Holy Spirit ministers in many dimensions to a believer, John 14:16 AMPC. Let’s look at some of them:
- Counselor – He is empowered to give you sound advice and guidance on any matter you may be facing.
- Helper – He is there to give you the needed assistance and support per time.
- Intercessor – He intervenes on your behalf by praying for you when you don’t know what to pray for or how to pray.
- Advocate – He speaks on your behalf and represents your interest before God and the devil.
- Strengthener – He comes to provide additional strength, especially when you feel weak.
- Standby – He is always ready to respond especially when needed. He can be depended upon in emergencies.
- The truth – He is the embodiment of truth and there is no lie in Him.
The Holy Spirit is your greatest advantage on the earth. You cannot do without Him. You must not do without Him.
