Proverbs 6:6-11
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and our need like an armed man.
Beloved,
One tactic the devil uses to help people develop unproductive minds is by giving them a false sense of accomplishment. The person will think “Oh! Look at all I’ve accomplished. It’s time to take a rest.” He will convince himself he is resting when really, he let Satan give him an excuse to be lazy. Such a person will feel they’ve done enough, meanwhile nothing is truly happening in his or her life.
Beloved, if your thoughts do not result in fruitfulness, they are not thoughts you need to be thinking. Renew your mind. Be intentional about your activity. I will suggest every night as you pray you ask the Lord to help you know what to do and how to use your time to his glory. Make a to do list or a plan. If you are a parent, don’t allow your children to fall into a trap of laziness. Don’t help them to despise work. Give them things to do and a deadline, even if it’s the simplest of tasks. If you do not fill their schedule the devil will. God will help us against the attitude of laziness in Jesus’ mighty name.
I commit you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
