Proverbs 6:6-11
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and our need like an armed man.
Beloved,
As a Christians, we are called to be productive. The first commandment God ever gave us is to “Be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28). The Bible also said we are to go “from strength to strength and from glory to glory” (Psalm 84:7). When your mind does not allow you to carry out God’s instruction, especially that which allows fruitfulness, it’s dangerous! Change your thinking at once! Your mind must yield thoughts that are productive- thoughts that will move you forward and that will advance the Kingdom of God.
What makes our thoughts to be unproductive at times? One reason that often goes overlooked is laziness. We like to label stylish laziness as procrastination. If we are very “churchy” we will say we are waiting on the Lord. The truth is God is waiting on you! So is your world.
When you develop the habit of doing less, it limits what you have to think about, leaving room for the devil to suggest things to you. This will impact your actions eventually.
The attitude of laziness is dangerous. It makes you casual about critical things. If you are a Christian, beware that the devil wants you to develop such a mind so you won’t be able to produce. He will do anything so that you don’t think about Godly things or anything that will move you or the gospel forward, disturbing his plans.
We will touch more on this next time.
I commit you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
