Proverbs 26:2
Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so, a curse without cause shall not alight.
Beloved,
Aside from negative ancestral flows, the second type of curse is the type that is self-caused or self-inflicted; this one is usually imposed when a person crosses a line. For example, what I call the Gibeonite curse (Joshua 9, Jeremiah 44:12). This is a curse you subject yourself to because of your inability to fight in life. Will you be proud to tell your children in days to come the reason why you made certain choices in life?
Deception is also another cause of self-caused curse. Any time a man is deceiving people, that person is raining curses on himself. The people you are deceiving might not know this themselves, but God knows, the devil knows, and you know that you are deceiving people, but it doesn’t end there, the consequence of that deceit will soon catch up with you.
Lack of trust in God, wilful disobedience (Jeremiah 11:1-5), and deliberate negative fruitfulness or fruitlessness (Hebrews 6:7-8) are other dimensions of self-caused curse.
Self-inflicted curses are usually avoidable, and two ways God deals with curses in our lives is either to get rid of it completely or by rendering it of no effect in your life (Isaiah 41).
There are certain attacks of the devil that if you live right, it will be as though they are not existing. Some demons can be cast out successfully, but it doesn’t end there. Such deliverance needs to be sustained by a lifestyle or else that devil will still come back.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
