DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

2 Timothy 1:13-14

“Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.”

Beloved,
The best way to enjoy sufficiency is to avoid loss at all costs. Treat everything God has given you like the treasure it is, something you cannot afford to lose.
See Paul’s note to Timothy. If there was no tendency for us to lose it, he wouldn’t tell us to keep it. There are believers who attend church regularly, yet nothing in their life has gotten to the level of sufficiency.  It’s not that God didn’t provide; as Christians, we automatically qualify for a life of sufficiency. The truth is such people are gaining quite well, but they’re also losing things. How does one allow loss to override the sufficiency of God in their lives?
By allowing greed. You never learned to be content. You’re afraid of what you don’t have, like the one steward who buried the small talent entrusted into his care. How do we avoid this pathway to loss in our lives? When you get something great; share it, sow it.  Make it your standard to give and God will ensure you always have. Is it the word of God you have gathered? Share it! Is it a raise? Sow! Find a God-approved way to share or sacrifice to avoid the habit of greed.  Greed leads to poverty. It’s a matter of time. In fact, the mindset of the impoverished and the mindset of the greedy are one and the same. Put a structure in place to avoid such at all costs.

We will pick up from here tomorrow.

I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
