James 1:5-8 NKJV
[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. [6] But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. [7] For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; [8] he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Beloved,
Doubt is anorther dart of the enemy to overcome in the fight of faith. It is a feeling of uncertainty or lack of conviction. A doubtful person knows that God can come through, but doubts if He will, Psalm 78:19-20.
Like the other darts we have talked about, doubt reveals an inadequacy in a man’s knowledge and revelation of God. It is a faith reducing agent because while a doubtful person knows God is capable, they are unsure that He will come through. It also hinders a man from taking right steps in the direction of his obedience, Acts 10:19-20. The shortest way to break free from doubt is in the place of worship and study of the word. This shifts your focus and attention to God and away from your problem.
Doubt comes because of the huge gap between the possibilities your mind can accommodate versus the ones your mind can’t contain, Luke 24:38. It comes when the physical reality cannot match up with the spiritual reality. Bridge and close the gap by faith and let it be unto you according to God’s word to you. The following are some more steps to take to deal with doubt:
- Remember! Joshua 1:9 TLB, Joshua 16:1 TPT. Recollect those situations and circumstances in which God intervened on your behalf . Take time to remember your feelings of desperation and frustrations. Then remember how God stepped in His magnificence on your behalf.
- Guard your heart, Mark 11:23. Don’t give room to double mindedness. Keep your gaze and eyes on Jesus with all your heart and trust Him to take charge.
- In programming things on faith lane, be very selective of who you listen to and what you hear because they can fuel either doubt or faith in you.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
