Ephesians 4:8 NKJV
“Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”
Beloved,
If you are a genuine child of God, you will appreciate Him as the Giver of life and all good things. Your ability to recognize and receive of Him allows you grace to be more like Him, especially when it comes to Godly giving. Imagine as a parent, coming home from work to see your twelve year old child sitting in your kitchen, crying. You ask him what’s wrong he says, “I don’t have anything to eat.” You never told him not to eat. When you calmly remind him that you just bought groceries yesterday and point out the fruit you are seeing on the counter, cereal in the pantry and all the ingredients for a salad in the fridge and you even remind him that he should have taken the meat out the freezer to that so you can prepare dinner for that evening, he tells you the food does not not belong to him and that he knows you are the one who bought it. How will you feel? God has instructed us to receive and enjoy heritage in Him as His children. He tells us, in His Word, to acknowledge Him as Rewarder. As you would feel about having a child who does not acknowledge you as a provider, so our heavenly Father feels when we don’t acknowledge Him as Father, Giver of Life, eternal life and all things good (Matthew 7:10). He wants us to join Him in heritage by receiving His gifts and becoming like Him- withholding nothing for the sake of His kingdom.
God has given us the gift of eternal life by giving us Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 6:4-5; 1 Timothy 4:8). He has given us the gift of His Holy Spirit (Acts 1:6-8; John 14:25). He has also given us the right to fellowship with Him and in Him and He’s given us the gift of men as vessels He uses to communicate with us and bless us as individuals and as His body, the church (1 John 2:2; Ephesians 2:12-13). You will be intentional about enjoying the gifts of God in Jesus name.
I commend you to God and the Word of His Grace. I call you blessed and nations.
