Psalms 107:2 NKJV
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
Beloved,
Redemption is the deliverance of believers from sin and its consequences. But beyond this, it has many components that must reflect in the life of a believer. Let’s look at some of the components of redemption:
- Conviction: Please note that the conviction of sin is the work of the Holy Spirit, not the preacher.
- Acknowledgement: Not only are we to acknowledge that we have sinned, but we must also acknowledge Jesus Christ as the only Way, and His finished work as more than enough. It is the responsibility of the recipient of salvation to believe and confess – this is acknowledgement.
- Divine exchange: Your life of sin and limitations is exchanged for His eternal life. This is automated by the finished work of Christ.
- Translation: Redemption translates us from the place of darkness to the kingdom of light. In darkness, there is sorrow, but there is rejoicing and clarity in the light. This is also automated by the finished work of Christ.
- Enforcement: Enforcing victory over sin is your intentional appreciation and application of God-given grace. The desire to sin is no longer there once you enforce the grace that makes you say no to sin. This is achieved by discipleship
- Having someone you are accountable to who walks with you and guides you on your journey to becoming more like Christ.
