Psalm 46:1 NKJV
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Beloved,
Christians, if you allow your spirit to be broken, there is no way you can withstand the wiles of the devil. A broken spirit leaves room for disobedience to the word and will of God and a disconnection of kingdom joints; that is the people God has placed in your life to give you an advantage, it will cause you to be disconnected from God, Himself which may cause a decay of your natural body… it’s just a matter of time.
The good news is that there are some things you can do to avoid finding yourself in such a position. Let us look at four things a believer can do to guard him or herself against brokenness:
- Have a right perspective to life. The Bible says this:
2 Corinthians 4:16 AMPC
Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.
In other words, we cannot afford to view life in the same way that the unbeliever does. The word of God must be our perspective. In the moment, things may look hopeless. But because our hope is in God, all is not lost because our hope is in God (Psalm 42:5; Psalm 43:5). Because His mercy is new every morning, no matter what the situation looks like, we must take it to the Lord in prayer, knowing fully well He cares. He sees, hears and knows and only wants us to trust Him. We worship even in advance because He is always working things out for our good and creating a way of escape for us. So no matter the situation, yet will we praise Him (Psalm 42:11)! We choose to confuse the enemy with our rejoicing.
2. Talk to God about that situation. As we established earlier on, we tell God about our problems, and trust that He is working it out for our good. No weapon formed against will prosper (Psalm 27:3)!
3. Store God’s Word in your heart. His word is a weapon against despair.
1 Samuel 30:6 says this:
“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
Store in your heart God’s words and do not yield. When our spirits are broken, violence in one form or the other, is inevitable. But see David- filled with God’s word in His heart was able to withstand all and he was encouraged. God instructs us to keep His word in our heart for this very reason:
Joshua 1:9 TPT
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
4. Balance being quiet with speaking.
Acts 18:9-10 GNT
“One night Paul had a vision in which the Lord said to him, “Do not be afraid, but keep on speaking and do not give up, 10for I am with you. No one will be able to harm you, for many in this city are my people.”
Know when to keep quiet and allow God to move and speak on your behalf and know when to when to assert your God given authority to fight. The weapons of our warfare as Christians are not carnal (Ephesians 6). You must be ready to speak God’s Words over matters (John 6:63).
5. Finally, worship and pray and choose to be helped by God. Just as Eli prophesied into the life of Hannah, yield to the prophetic speaking of the genuine men of God over your life over that situation of concern (1 Samuel 1-4).
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
