DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Psalm 46:1 NKJV
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Beloved,
Beloved, if you are a child of God, His presence is activated and at work on your behalf to preserve you and your destiny from whatever wants to shake you. But, believers, you beware! The devil is ready to go to any length to shake your faith to the point that you forget the Lord is with you. If this happens, it will lead you to a condition of spiritual brokenness. It is our natural spirit that must be broken. Once Jesus is your Lord and Savior, He has become the Healer of your broken heart (Psalm 147:3).  He desires we get to a place where we become unshakeable.
The first step to winning a battle is to first of all break the spirit of the person you are fighting. So the first thing the devil wants to do is to get your spirit broken. Once he achieves this, then you are defeatable. It is important that we learn to strengthen our spirit on time before the evil day comes.
Causes of broken spirit:
  1. Perverseness in tongue. Prov 15:4. Once aversion is in the tongue of a man, then broken spirit is inevitable. This is why you need to learn to speak according to what must be, and not what is in reality.
  2. Sadness. Prov 15:13 AMPC. If you are always sad, you will have a broken spirit. If your response to things is always negative, you will have a broken spirit.
  3. Loss of a precious thing, Genesis 44:29 – But if you take this one also from me, and calamity befalls him, you shall bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave.
  4. Emphasis on negative information, Acts 21:11. Our reaction to negative occurrences (weeping and being sad) will break the heart. As a leader, you must be strong.
When the spirit is broken:
  • It will not yield to God’s instructions, Exodus 6:9 BSB
  • It will be disconnected from the right spirit.
  • It will lead to a broken body, Proverbs 17:22.
Next time, we will talk about how we can guard against a broken spirit.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
