DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Luke 23:4, NKJV

So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man,”

Beloved,

The quote in the verse above was said of Jesus. Can the same be said of you? You might say, “look, I am just a man; I am not perfect”. While that is true, God once said to Abraham, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless…”. Are you Abraham’s seed? If you are interested in being and remaining a part of this wonderful covenant, you must be ready to do the same- get rid of unnecessary errors in your life.

The truth is that mortal men are highly susceptible to errors. It has been this way since the first man chose to allow sin to enter into this earth. John 8:7-9 shows this:

So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

There are many ways men enter into error. For starters, we make wrong assumptions based on our natural understanding and experiences. We naturally like to assume that our future is solely contingent upon our past, and as a result, we risk making faulty decisions. Zacharias was susceptible to this. If not for divine visitation, he would have made decisions that could have destroyed his long awaited son’s destiny. John the Baptist would have been known by an entirely different name and quite possibly have had an entirely different destiny all because no one in his past ever bore John or had such a destiny (Luke 1:59-63).

We also fall into error easily because we don’t think before we speak. We tend to have very loose tongues. James 3:2 says,

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Still another way we tend to err is by justifying our fleshly desires with spiritual information. Jude 1:11 cautions us,

Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah

Beloved, do you see what all these erratic tendencies have in common? All these errors are made independently of the Holy Spirit. Next time, we will look at a few more ways in which we tend to error and as we do, my challenge to you is to take stock of your life. What kind of thoughts are you thinking? Why? How are you making your decisions? On what premise? What kind of words tend to fly out of your mouth? I guarantee whatever is coming out matches what you are putting into your spirit man. Beloved, our errors in life are indicative of the patterns by which we live our life. If you are a child of God and have gotten comfortable with living by your flesh, error is inevitable and consequently, waste and failure are inevitable. Reduce your vulnerability to errors by strengthening your spirit man as you strengthen your relationship with the Holy Spirit.

I commend you to God and the word of His grace.

I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
