Psalm 19:12-13 NKJV
Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
Beloved,
Last time, we discussed that mankind is prone to errors in life and we looked at a few of the ways human beings tend to fall into error. Did you know you can commit errors unknowingly? Scripture tells us that all things are lawful, but not all things are expedient. The Psalmist who wrote the passage above eventually understood this and did what he saw necessary to get his life back on track. Let’s learn from him.
The first thing he did was acknowledge that he, naturally, is prone to error- errors that he, himself, find hard to understand. You should not allow pride and the culture of the world to make you aloof to what is going wrong in your life. Nor should you deceive yourself into thinking you can live a life without error by your own efforts. If you are a believer, you are no longer your own, Christ is your identity now and anything you do outside of His will is error. You are to take on his mind and heart concerning matters.
I said something earlier on about the culture of this world. Culture and tradition are a major way people tend to fall into error. Scripture says there is a way that seems right, but it ends in death. Don’t let your desire to fit in or please men lead you to death or destroy your destiny. The Bible says this about errors that come as a result of our earthly traditions:
“For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men -the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.” -Mark 7:8, NKJV
The Bible also says,
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8, NKJV
One of the best ways to avoid falling into error as a result of earthly traditions and the philosophies of men is to give allowance for the word and power of God in your life.
“And Jesus answering said unto them, ‘Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?’” -Mark 12:24, KJV
Let Him have His way. He can never lead you astray!
I commend you to God and the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
