DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Romans 8:14

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Beloved,

There are two things my father in destiny always emphasized strongly as being critical for effective ministry and life in Christ: how to live by faith and how to be led by the Spirit.

Having the Holy Spirit rest, rule and abide within you is a major advantage you have in Christ.  When you’re led by the Spirit, You will see farther and you can do more. If you can allow yourself to be led by the Spirit, you can avoid critical mistakes in life. You can accomplish things faster and with ease because everything that happens naturally is preceded by spiritual affairs.

Now that we know how important and beneficial it is to live our Christian lives according to the leadership of and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we must look at how we can foster the right kind of relationship with Him. After all, we are flesh and He is the Ultimate Spirit of the eternal God. What practical steps can we take to engage Him and optimize our relationship with Him? In this series we will talk about practical steps we must take to master our relationship with Him.

The first step we must take and master in order to enjoy the benefits of the Holy Spirit is to get into sonship. Let God be your Father.  Enjoy the nurture and guidance of an earthly father figure who is God-ordained to help you in your walk. Isaiah 30:21 says,

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21

The first step in being able to yield to the Holy Spirit is sonship.  Sonship means committing to be fed, nurtured and disciplined by someone whose glory you will eventually reflect and share in. When you are a son, you protect the interests of the one whose glory you share in because your inheritance and identity are at stake.

Genuine sonship with God promises you an inheritance with Christ Jesus and it guarantees you the opportunity to enjoy operating with ‬‬the mind of Christ; that is, you’ll be able to think and act like Him.

If you’ve not given your life to Christ, you don’t qualify for sonship and you won’t enjoy the full benefits of being led by the Spirit. So start there.  Renew your sonship and return to Him if you realize you’ve gone so far from Him that your interests and His are no longer the same.

I commend you to God, the Father, and to the fullness of the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
