1 Timothy 3:8-9
Likewise, deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.
Beloved,
You must maintain a pure conscience to hold forth the mystery of faith. A pure and clear conscience is what results from behavior that is consistent with spiritual maturity. Someone with a pure conscience must be able to affirm some things. The first being that God is good no matter what happens and there is no debate about it. A spiritually immature person will blame God based on his circumstance.
The second truth you must hold dear is that regardless of how the day has turned out to be, it is still the best day for you; a day is never bad for a believer. It is always a good day for a believer because we serve a God who is sovereign and supreme, and it takes a mature believer to take that standpoint.
Another sign of a pure conscience is sincerity, Genesis 17:1. You cannot claim to have a sincere heart before God yet have another alternative besides Him. Don’t form or pretend when you come before God. 1 Timothy 1:18-19 tells us that faith and a clear conscience goes hand in hand. Beloved, If you don’t want your faith to be shipwrecked, you must have a clear conscience.
