Jehovah Jireh I
Genesis 22:14
And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Beloved,
No one can know God in His entirety. However, He shows us several dimensions of Him that will allow us to enjoy several sides of God.
To know God, you must know His nature and you must know His character. A day will come when God and life will place a demand on you. This kind of demand will move you from the known side of your life to the unknown side. Your physical strength and attributes is useless in this transition. Moreover, God will reveal a side of Himself to you before that you had not seen before.
This kind of personal revelation of God does not come cheaply. Abraham was 75 years old when he began to walk intimately with God. For the next 25 years, he was without a child yet had to believe in God who promised him that he was going to give birth to a son from his wife Sarah. They did give birth to the promised child, Isaac, but when the boy became a teenager, God asked Abraham to sacrifice him to Him. This is a difficult thing for any parent to hear or do, but Abraham had walked long enough with God to understand that if God makes any demand from you, consider it a blessing. Indeed, God was about to introduce Himself to Abraham as Jehovah Jireh.
God allows us to go through a long suffering. To sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham had to travel 3 days journey to the appointed place. Doubt and perhaps fear would have filled his heart as he took each step, but he stayed on course and determined in his heart to obey God even if it meant the death of his promised son. When God takes you through a season or period of silence, He is about to introduce a new dimension of Himself to you, one that will sustain you throughout your lifetime.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
