Matthew 9:17 NKJV
Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Beloved,
Every beginning is characterized by one of the following: old wine and new wine. We may also have in place old wineskin and new wineskin. We can choose how we maintain both our wines and our wineskins- whether we let them go or keep and preserve them.
We are on the subject of keeping what we have and last time, we began discussing some of the things God has made available to us to help us keep what He has given us. One of the things He makes available to us that we must take advantage of is the right wineskin. You must first know the new thing God has given you and its purpose; this is the new wine. Next, you must know the necessary wineskin; that is, the right mindset, daily structure and environment, and other procedures to maintain it. To find out the new wineskin, you must inquire of the Holy Spirit. You must ask the right questions of the Holy Spirit to determine what you must have in place to keep the new wine you have received.
Acts 9:6 NKJV
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Your lifestyle is a container. You must recognize when new is coming to you and be ready for it. We see Apostle Paul in the verse above asking the Lord what he must do. In His own case, God sent Him to Ananias to learn a new lifestyle and to be connected to the right group to help him preserve his new wine.
You also need the right mindset. The Bible says:
Romans 12:2 NKJV
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
You cannot keep thinking in an old way and maintain a new lifestyle. You also need to avoid pitfalls. The Bible says:
Proverbs 27:12 NKJV
A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished.
Have a healthy structure in place. Ensure your business, attitude, money, everything concerning you is surrendered to God. Beloved, you must be intentional about developing and maintaining the lifestyle necessary for your new season, new level, new gifting, new assignment – everything new God is bringing your way. God will help you to have the right wineskin in place to keep the new thing He has given you, in Jesus’ name.
