[3] Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. [4] Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Beloved,
Leadership requires understanding. In any setting, among any group of people, it’s important to note that not everyone is at the same level of understanding. Matthew 13:8 explains to us that different types of soil will produce at different levels, some 100, some 60, others 30. Again, in Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus explains the story of the talents. If you have ever wondered why “…He gave unto one five talents, to another He gave two, and to another, He gave only one…” their outcomes make it pretty evident. Good leadership begins with good stewardship. Good stewardship starts with right understanding.
Because people are not at the same level of understanding, it takes correct leadership to inspire and influence people to produce optimally, in accordance with their convictions. As a leader, having an understanding of this will help you know how to manage your expectations from people while ensuring you get maximum input and contribution from the people entrusted into your care and leadership. People will follow you better if they know you know them better.
Leadership has nothing to do with numbers, primarily. Sometimes your territory is comprised of less than five humans. But if you lead and guide from the place of understanding, if you manage to inspire your tribe to a place of clear understanding concerning of your vision, expectations, and how your leadership benefits them at a deeper level rather than demanding blind followership, you will consistently get 100% contribution from everyone. Jesus never lost track of leading the 70, the 12, or the 3 because of His understanding of their needs and capacity. Each of these individuals were so harnessed that it wasn’t difficult for the Master to deploy them for kingdom assignment. May you obtain grace to learn how to lead effectively.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
