Matthew 2:13-15
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt.
Beloved,
Joseph qualified to be the earthly father of Jesus and was able to fulfil that responsibility because of his diligence and not because of his anointing. He obeyed every instruction given to him by God through angels without complaints. God must have noted his track record before giving him that divine assignment and Joseph must have built a capacity of diligence and trustworthiness over time.
You need to understand the difference between the anointing and diligence. It was the anointing that came upon Elijah that caused him to outrun the chariot of Ahab on foot, it wasn’t his own personal ability because the Bible didn’t record that he was an athlete. But in the case of Joseph, he didn’t need the anointing to come upon him to obey divine instructions, that is his natural disposition to the things of God, and he must have built that capacity over time.
Beloved, the Bible says in John 10:27:
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:27
Have you learned to identify the voice of Jesus out of every other voice around you? More importantly, how willing are you to obey His voice without compulsion?
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
