Mountains That Must Surround Your Life V
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever. For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.
Psalm 125:1-3, NKJV
Beloved,
Last time, we talked about the mountain of wisdom and how it’s imperative that this mountain be in place for every serious-minded Christian. As I mentioned to you before, the word of God says this:
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10, NIV
And it also says this:
The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
Proverbs 10:27, NIV
Like the mountain of wisdom, the fear of the Lord keeps you safe. The difference is that one cannot ensure true wisdom is in place until he or she truly knows the God of their salvation.
We love to talk of Jesus as pure and holy. He is for sure. We find it easy to worship Jesus, the Lamb of God. And we should. But it truly is the beginning of wisdom for you to that the Lamb of God is also the Lion of the tribe of Judah. When you have the mountain of the fear of the Lord rightly placed in your life, there are some things you will never try if you know what is best for you. Likewise, there are some things you can never be afraid of because you know who is at work on your behalf.
The fear of the Lord we are talking about here is not the demonically arranged spirit of fear. Fear as a spirit is stifling. The fear of the Lord is a righteous response to what keeps us safe and on God’s righteous path for our lives. It says this is the book of 2 Kings:
And the covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods. But the LORD your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.
2 Kings 17:38-39, NKJV
Beloved, when you exalt anything above the Lord, Most High, you are only inviting threats into your life. The fear of the Lord is a critical part of the covenant we have established with Him once we have decided to give Him our lives.
Next time, we will review every mountain we must have in place and address a few key points and action steps as we round off this series.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
