II Timothy 4:18 NKJV
And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
Beloved,
So far we have learned that God uses His mercy, His Word, and His instructions to keep us and to preserve us. A final means I want to unpack is one of my favorite ones and that is His covenant. I love covenant so much because it is a reminder of God has put in place to demonstrate His commitment to us. One thing about preservation is that while God will do His part because He is faithful, understand that we, His children also have a part to play also when it comes to being kept.
Our relationship with God is not one-sided. As with any healthy and functional relationship, both parties have a part to play. God has established the covenant and has demonstrated His reliability through His word and His track record of consistency over time. But you have the responsibility of working His word and walking in it. You are responsible to work the covenants that you have received.
Do you know God’s covenant promises concerning you? If you don’t read His word, you will not uncover many great and precious promises the Lord has for you. You must also be sure to write down any divine communication He has given you either directly, or through His servant or through your place of worship. Visit them over and over and claim them. Lastly be sure you do your part to work the covenant. If someone gives you a gift, no matter how great, if you fail to put it to use, you are losing out and only wasting that gift.
If you don’t preserve the gift, it is a loss for you. When it comes to the gift of divine preservation and all of the ways God has made available for you to enjoy it, you will not miss out or waste them in Jesus’ mighty name. Beloved, may God preserve you every day of the new year ahead in Jesus’ name.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
