Revelations 1:1-3
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
Beloved,
If you have yet to catch a revelation about Christ Jesus, the time is now! This is not just for eternity’s sake; there is an entire life on the earth you will not enjoy fully or be empowered for without a revelation of Him. As we said in the last edition, the entire personality of Jesus Christ is one of relentless love. In this edition, let’s look at what it takes to catch a true revelation of Christ. Let’s jump right into the first step; it is a critical one.
To catch the revelation of Jesus, the first step you must take is to read or hear the testimony of a reliable source. Who better to prove to you that Christ is the Son of God than God, the Father Himself?
And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony.
1 John 5:6 NLT
In other words, God not only reveals who Christ is to us by His Word, He demonstrated to us, through action, the depth of His love for us bu Christ’s death on the cross.
We have not one, but three reliable sources: water, the Spirit and blood. The blood of Christ testifies of the depth of His love for us and the covenant relationship between us and the Father. Water reflects the purity and all the clarifying information you need from the life giving power of His Word. And we have the gift of the Spirit of truth, that is the Holy Spirit! His Spirit exists to demonstrate His Power and as evidence of Christ Jesus and what revelation of who He is can empower us to do once we receive it.
Many people say many things about Jesus Christ. Be careful who your source is, or you will end up allowing yourself to be distracted or misled instead of being illuminated.
And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 NLT
You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God because God said so. Throughout scripture, you can read what God has said concerning His Son. I encourage you to do so. Consider this verse:
And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
1 John 5:5, NLT
You must also believe that Jesus is the Son of God because God said so and it’s the only way you can truly win in life. Look at this account:
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”
Matthew 17:5
I like how John put it:
So we have these three witnesses— the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree. Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son.
1 John 5:7-9, NLT
You can not catch a revelation about that which you never heard. You must first expose yourself to a reliable source. As you read your Bible and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ from sound men of God, you expose yourself to the Spirit of God, Himself. Hear Him.
I commit you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
