1 Peter 3:15-16
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
Beloved,
Whenever there is to be a covenant between two parties, a law will be written. We call it ‘a testament’. The old testament of the Bible is an example of such between man and God. It was initiated and kept going with the blood of animals and Satan, the god of this world, was its supervisor. Anything supervised by Satan will include loss of life or destiny in one way or the other. The system was made legal as a result of the fall of man. The other thing about Satan or anything he supervises, it can’t last.
Everything supervised by God not only lasts, it bears fruit. Before the foundations of the world, He had a better covenant in mind- one that came with more benefits and one that would last forever, just as the lives it would salvage. For this new covenant to go into effect, there needed to be a testator (a testator is one who writes his will in favor of another). There also needed to be a testament (that is something that serves as a sign or evidence of truth and value). There would also be need for a mediator (that is one who would intervene in matters between the two parties). Lastly, there must be blood (death must occur for the will to come to effect- much like a son can only inherit after the death of their father).
God Himself, the God of all justice established Himself to ensure that all the aforementioned would take place fairly and justly. Jesus stepped forward as the only one who was qualified to make it happen. He became the testator. He supervised the writing of the testament by way of His Holy Spirit. He became the mediator. He died to put that testament into effect. And He rose up from the dead to be the first partaker of all that had been put in effect, so that we also can have access to this inheritance. To God be the glory!
Jesus took care of all the loopholes so that the devil wouldn’t have a chance to tamper with our inheritance and with the process of obtaining it. He established that new covenant for us so that we will no longer be living under the law, but we will live under grace. No other religious leader can boast of doing for his followers what Jesus, our Lord has done for us.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
