The Infinite Product of Christ’s Death and Resurrection XII
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
1 Peter 3:15-16
Beloved,
As we round off this series, I want to tell you another story; this time, from scripture.
The Bible records some women who were in search of the savior, yet when they arrived to where His body was to be, all they found was darkness. They were standing there in the darkness and lamenting until they heard the words of an angel:
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
Matthew 28:5-7 NLT
They thought all hope was lost, until they heard the sound of hope. See what the angel told them. It is quite similar to what Peter has recorded in his letter in our opening scripture. Both the angel in this story and Peter the apostle implore those who have been seeking and searching in darkness to go and tell others once they have discovered light, once they have heard the truth for themselves. They must declare it to the world! Why? The truth is integral for overcoming (Revelations 12:1-12). The truth is what sets free (John 8:32). It is the truth that gives us hope!
Now I’ve made available to you two testimonies; one recent and one from scripture, both starting with hopelessness and ending with the eternal hope of glory.
This glorious hope that was made available to us through the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ Jesus gives us salvation from death in any form. It also holds the power to make us both clean and whole. It will do a much better job than bleach or any cleansing agent could ever do.
Beloved, don’t allow the devil and society to put a lid on your testimony of Christ Jesus and all He’s done for you. Arm yourself with these vital truths; the truth of the gospel and the truth of your salvation experience. This is so you can be able to give an answer to anyone who asks you about your faith in Christ. Who knows, that may just be the stimulus they need to taste and see the goodness of God for themselves.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
