1 Peter 3:15-16
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
Beloved,
You must be personally and intimately aware of the purpose of Christ’s death and resurrection. Lack of the knowledge of its importance will lead one to make the error of Esau who exchanged his birth right for a bowl of porridge.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus died and had to be in the grave for three days? We can’t talk about the rulership of Jesus without talking of His death and resurrection. If we silence that part of Jesus’ life, then we may as well not be called Christians and simply silence the reason we are following Christ.
What makes us followers of Jesus are the basic and fundamental things that the world wants us to be quiet over. Take away the death and resurrection of Jesus and you will take away the reason for His Lordship. The world wants us to be quiet over that. Jesus had to die and be in the grave for three days because prophecy had been given that His death would be in the order of Jonah who was in the belly of the fish for three days.
We follow Jesus because of what He said He would do, and He did. So if we don’t keep talking about the uniqueness of our Christian faith, somebody will soon come and generalized it along with the things that is general to others.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
