Beloved,
We started talking yesterday about how to get to a point where we value what our salvation provides and efficiently enforce the same in our daily experiences. I want you to get to a place where you understand that developing your spirit is more eternally relevant than developing your mind or soul; though that is very important too so as to be relevant on this side of eternity. Let’s look at some more peculiarities of a born again spirit.
- The born again Spirit is a spirit programmed and restored to have a relationship with God, Ephesians 2:6 GWT, 1 John 3:1-2 NKJV. This is a product of God’s love for us and is what gives us the ability to refer to God as “Abba Father”. With a born-again spirit, you gain the ability to communicate with God in His language. It restores the relationship with God that was lost due to the fall of the First Adam.
- The born again spirit has victory over sin, 1 John 3:9. Occasionally, there might be manifestations of the flesh, but they must not occur habitually. For the same reason why a driver will not continue to get into accidents and expect his insurance company to continue to cover him; a person with a born-again spirit must not continue in sin under the guise of grace, Romans 6:1. He should not continue in sin because the nature of God in him does not permit it. He carries a born-again spirit that can say no to sin.
You have such an advantage through the born again spirit in you. Do not let the devil make you think you are like any other person. Know that you were purchased with Jesus’ blood. Find your joy in the finished work of Christ, no matter what goes on around you.
