Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Beloved,
It is usual to receive God’s promises with so much excitement. But after that initial phase passes, what is next? It takes time to break the grounds of promise because the devil does not want you to have the manifestation of what is promised. The manifestation will take time and you will need to trust the One who promised while you wait. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us how to trust God:
- Do not lean on your own understanding.
- Acknowledge God.
Many times we tend to put more trust in what we can see and what is happening now, but we must understand that God’s promises are time bound. Some may happen instantaneously. Others may take day, weeks, months, or even years. There is always a maturity time to the fulfillment of God’s promises, but your trust must be anchored in God while you wait for the performance of that promise.
Trust only exists between two parties with some level of intimacy. It develops as both parties are tried and tested. God doesn’t deal with everyone at the same level. He deals with individuals based on the level of trust they have earned with Him. In the process of waiting, you not only learn to trust God, you earn His trust as you permit the workings of the Holy Spirit in you. He moves your gaze from what you hoped to receive to the Father Himself.
Next time, we will learn practical ways to grow our trust in God.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
