Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Beloved,
Last time, we started talking about the importance trust in our relationship with God. Today, we will learn from some biblical characters that put their trust in God.
Biblical examples of trust in God:
- Rahab, Joshua 2:1-24. Rahab was a gentile who was steeped in a life of sin. But she put her trust in the God of Israel and assured the salvation of herself and her family.
- Abraham. He trusted and had faith in God. He did not allow the passage of time to erode his trust in the One who had promised.
- Ruth, Ruth 1. Ruth was another foreigner that found refuge in the God of Israel. In the face of an uncertain future, she trusted God. Even when her sister-in-law turned back and despite pressure from her mother-in-law, she still trusted the Lord.
- The parents of Moses and his sister, Exodus 2. Many of Moses’ peers were killed in infancy, but because Moses’ family trusted the Lord, he was preserved.
We see in these examples that trust in God really shines in the face of adversity. It is easy enough to trust when all is rosy. But when things are not exactly as we would like, this is time to rely even more on the faithfulness of God. At such a time, we must remember He has never failed and He will never fail.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
