Warning Against Deliberate Disobedience
Luke 6:46, ESV
Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?
Beloved,
The kingdom of God is a kingdom of instructions and obedience. The problem of humanity with divinity is disobedience to instructions. Because we are humans, we are liable to make mistakes. However, it is a stupid driver that will keep having accidents every week and if such continues, such a person’s license will be revoked in no time. You can sin by accident, but you should not sin deliberately. There is a difference between the two.
Instructions from God are either personal or congregational. Your personal instructions will most likely address your consecration; learn to keep those instructions and to abide by them. For instance, He may tell you to pray for 30 minutes for three days. This is specific to you, without the knowledge of your pastor. You will do well to obey that instruction because at the end of the day, you will be the beneficiary. If you identify as a member of a church, you are also to obey every instruction that God gives to the congregation through His servants.
Beloved, go back to examine the instructions God has given you as an individual and as a member of a local church and obey them and you will continue to enjoy God’s commitment to you in all your ways.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
Faith is The Evidence
Hebrews 11:1, NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Beloved,
I remember a conversation between a group of people some years back. A man was telling his friends about a driving ticket he just got, saying he was going to contest it because he was sure that he did not commit any offense. Another person in the group told him to check the ticket to see if there is a link to any video clip that could show the tape of the offense. He checked and found the link. He played the clip and alas, the video showed the evidence of the offense committed. At that point, every argument ended.
The power of evidence on the faith lane cannot be overstated. When there is evidence, fear is thrown out of the window. Think about it this way: if someone walks up to you and claims that he is the owner of your car, I am sure that the default response you would have is that the person must be kidding. However, if you notice that he is getting serious about his claim, the next step you would take is to quickly look for your vehicle particulars that would be used as an evidence that the car is yours. As soon as you have complete particulars that are up to date, you treat the person’s claim as noise.
The word that God spoke to you before you started that project, the word that you found on the pages of the Bible or written on the pages of your heart are the words of life that culminates into your faith, and this becomes your evidence against the claims of the devil. Write them down. Keep them in your heart. Believe them. Go over them regularly when the going is getting tough.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
