I John 5:4-5 NKJV
[4] For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. [5] Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Beloved,
Last time, we started a discussion on who and what overcome the world and we discussed the characteristics to look out for so as to recognize the influence of the world. Today, we will talk about some forces that can overcome the world.
The following are attributes of things that overcome the world:
- Things that are not subject to the emotions of men. Since human beings and their emotions are fickle, whatever is subject to the whims of man cannot overcome the world. But things grounded in the Solid Rock that is Christ will overcome this world.
- Things that are not born out of the works of flesh, Galatians 5:19-21. Wealth amassed sinfully or positions gained by pulling others down are examples of things that will not overcome the world as they will not last. Only things that are of the Spirit will last.
- Things that are born of the fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22. If what you birth will last, it must not be of flesh; and if it will not be of flesh, it must be of the Spirit. Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in all you bring forth. Then, that which you birth will surely overcome the world.
