Genesis 32:24-28 NKJV
24Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”
But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
27 So He said to him, “What is your name?”
He said, “Jacob.”
28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
Beloved,
In verse 25, the man that wrestled with Jacob touched the hollow of his thigh. This caused his joint to be out of place. This is a special encounter that redefined Jacob’s life. His name was changed to Israel and his confidence which was on self was placed in God. Jacob was able to have this encounter because he was alone with God. He separated himself from his family and possessions.
Jacob understood the need for separation. He knew that there are some heights that cannot be reached except by being alone with God. As troubled as he was on his way to Esau, he realized the place of God. Once he encountered God, he automatically found favor with Esau.
Dear friend, the way forward at every crossroad is the place of divine encounter. Learn to separate yourself from the people and things you love in order to encounter God. God requires all of you. You need to give God all of your heart, love and attention in order to encounter Him. Yield to the beckon of God, be separated and enjoy divine encounters.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
