Romans 6:1-2 MSG
So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we’ve left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or didn’t you realize we packed up and left there for good?
Beloved,
While it is desirable to pray for deliverance from God, we need to understand the requirements you must live by to prevent falling into the very circumstances that God had to deliver you from. In fact, the scripture above warns us against using the grace of God to excuse sinful attitudes. A believer may continue to have negative experiences, not because God’s power is not potent or available, but because of a conscious choice to pursue what God has said no to. Let’s look at some more identifying characteristics of those things God is delivers men from, yet they tend to long for.
They are the ways that seem right but lead to death, Proverbs 14:12 KJV. They often seem as the only option or the prevailing opinion. Don’t let the devil make you think that your only option or the only out of your predicament is an offer that is against God’s will. Don’t follow that way that seem right but will eventually lead to death. Let the Holy Spirit permeate your spirit so you can rightly discern God’s will for you.
Things that God wants to deliver you from also include things that appeal to your your lust and probably your sense of adventure, 1 Corinthians 10:6 ERV. Whenever you are led by lust or by the flesh, you are outside of God’s will. Aside from lust which is explicitly sinful, be careful to be sensitive to the voice of the Spirit when exploring your adventurous side. Consider the case of Dinah in Genesis 34:1-2 AMPC. There is a probability she had attempted to sneak out in the past and was caught, but her failure to heed those warning signs and stay within the boundaries of protection God had apportioned to her in her father’s house led to such a sad outcome for her and her family. Every attempt of God to deliver you from something you are running after is a mercy of God over your destiny; don’t take it for granted.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
