DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”

Beloved,

Imagine a man who is hungry. He finds his way into a restaurant only to learn he has no means to pay. Even if he did, he can’t afford the meal. A man comes from nowhere and covers the bill in its entirety, plus his future meals. All the hungry man has to do is mention his name whenever he comes into that restaurant. Instead of eating and rejoicing, the hungry man takes offense that he didn’t have the opportunity to pay his own way even though the he bill is one he couldn’t never afford. In fact that man paid his future bills at that restaurant.

When we neglect to use the precious gifts God has made available to us through the sacrifice of His only Son, we are no different than the ungrateful hungry man. We started talking last time about the great gifts made available to us at the time of Christ’s ascension to the Father.

We discussed the precious gift of salvation and the truth that every precious gift of God continues to give, starting with salvation. The great and precious gifts I want to share today are the gift of eternal life and His Holy Spirit.

‘It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.’ -John 6:63,

We enjoy this gift of eternal life through our union with Christ Jesus who has given us His Spirit. No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:3. He is freely given to every believer at new birth but how He will manifest in each person will be different depending on fellowship and relationship. The Holy Spirit is the seal of believers, Ephesians 4:30. He seals your heart against sin, He keeps you until the coming of the Lord and having Him guarantees eternal life.
My prayer is that you will enjoy every gift God has made available to you and that you will be able to effectively communicate your salvation to others.

I commend you to God and the word of His grace. I call you BLESSED and NATIONS.
