DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

‭‭‭‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
There is a way that  seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Beloved,
We have been examining the subject of the fall of destiny, and we have said that many things can be found to be responsible for such fall. I explained that what you love more than God will inevitably lead to a fall in destiny like we saw in the life of King Solomon.

In John 21:15, Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him more than “these ”. Although “these ” was not explicitly stated, we can fill in the gap by ourselves. What do you love more than God? The problem is not about what you love, it is about what you love more than God. Anything you love more than God will take you away from Him.

How could someone who had amazing encounters with God like Solomon did turn away from God? You don’t want to be a victim of this. Let your encounters be strong enough to keep you before God continually.

Protect what brought you to grace. Whenever you have any breakthrough in life, identify the role of God in that breakthrough so you will not ascribe God’s glory to yourself. This is why people are encouraged to share their testimonies. You must consciously let God’s people know that although you did your part, the grace of God helped you in specific ways. Acknowledge every way God keeps coming through for you at the grass level or else the devil will take such knowledge from you at the grace level.

Finally, you must protect your heart from being lifted up.

‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭26:5‬,16 ‭NKJV‬‬
[5] He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.
[16] But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Uzziah was a king who reigned in Judah. Scripture recorded that he sought God in the days of Prophet Zechariah; and as long as he did, he prospered. But his heart later became lifted up to his destruction. The destruction and fall of Uzziah happened because he began to rely on his strength, success, and ability. He also didn’t respect holy boundaries.

Don’t be like King Uzziah, bring your heart down; don’t let your lifting and success get into your head. Don’t allow the devil to give you a fake but elevated estimate of who you are. God will bless and lift you this  year, but don’t allow your achievements to get into your head and make you proud. Like Paul, keep having something you are pressing towards. As long as you have something you are pressing towards, it will cause you to keep depending on God and this will help to keep your heart consistently humble before him.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
