Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV
[14] “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! [15] And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
Beloved,
A time will come in a person’s life when certain things will become a must for him to do. God won’t force them on the person or make it compulsory. The individual will have an opportunity to make a choice, but spiritual intelligence will make a believer know that it’s not really a choice, it’s a must.
Joshua presented such a choice to the children of Israel. He gave them the option to serve God or idols came to the people of Israel as a choice, but he chose wisely for his family. We also have the example of Elisha. He didn’t have to follow Elijah, but he somehow knew that the fulfillment of his destiny was tied to this prophet.
So what are some things that should become a must for you personally as you go through life? One is that you must learn to maintain calmness and stillness, Psalm 62:5 ERV. You must be still, so that you may know.
Beloved, learn to slow down when you discover you’re doing things because others are doing it. Slow down when you are aspiring to do things and it is not working as expected, slow down to find out what may be responsible for that outcome. When you’re pursuing something and it is not working out as expected, be still to know, don’t be under pressure.
Another thing that is a must to bear in mind as a believer is that Christ must increase, and you must decrease, John 3:30. The flesh in us must keep decreasing and the spirit of God in us must keep increasing. People around you must keep seeing more and more of God in you, they must keep seeing Jesus being glorified in your life. Your flesh must die daily, and the revelation of Jesus must keep increasing in you daily.
