Staying Ahead in the Game of Life (III): Prayer Boosters

Beloved,
Our church has just begun what we call our STRATEGIC POSITIONING PRAYER SUMMIT where we pray ahead intensively for the year ahead. It’s a critical time for us because we know that how we pray and how seriously we take his time of fasting and prayers determines how ready we are to enjoy the new year. In light of this, I deem it necessary to continue this series by talking about prayer boosters.
Understand that when you pray well and you pray ahead, there are some battles you wouldn’t have to fight. If you find yourself repeatedly contending in life, examine your prayer life as it may be time for a boost.
It’s not every time you go to pray that you feel like praying. Don’t build your prayer life around needs because it’s guaranteed to be ineffective. Force yourself into a habit. Maybe for the next 21 days, you will commit to 30 minutes in the morning and 30 at night. Set your alarms, prepare two pray every day. When you pray, mind your attention. Attention is to show up, stay focused and take heed. You must attend to your time with Jesus. Many times, our prayer lives slow down because along the way, we stopped paying attention. We just breeze through our prayer time and mark it done. Attention does a few things:

1. Attention harnesses the light of the eyes to see the invisible to do the impossible.
2. It activates the power of meditation.
3. It also heightens sensitivity, and it is the SENSITIZED that seizes the opportunity NOT the SENSIBLE

(The SENSIBLE senses the opportunity, the SENSITIZED seizes it!) —-The Four Lepers in 2 Kings 7:3-8.
When you refuse to pay attention to what matters in life, you do damage to your destiny. When you cannot pay attention in the place of prayer, you operate in neglect of what will save you (Hebrews 2:1-3).
Beloved, as you are on your Christian journey, it’s not uncommon to get weary. It’s not uncommon to find yourself entangled in the cares and affairs of this life. If you will stay ahead in life you will need to put some structures in place, and you will need another structure that will keep that structure in place and working for you over time.
