Genesis 18:17 NKJV
“And the LORD said, ‘Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him?”
Beloved,
Greatness has everything to do with eminence and distinction. That which is great is unmatched. This is the only way one can describe the personality, standard and character of God and His kingdom. For those of us who have given our life to Christ, greatness is our inherent inheritance. It is not optional or a suggestion. As we can see from our scripture above, greatness is the birthright of the believer. The Bible says, in the book of Psalms:
“For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”
– Psalms 95:3-7
God is great. Just as a lion cannot give birth to a lizard, children of God can be nothing less than great. In this series, I take my time, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to explain greatness as more than an ordinary adjective. Greatness reflects a law and standard of life in God’s kingdom.
The first thing I want to establish for us is that greatness cannot be depicted by weight or amount, rather it is reflected by impact and by how aligned one is with God’s will, Word and Way.
Beloved, do not let the devil deceive you into living a lesser life. Take your time, today to reflect on the greatness of God through scripture and in your personal life. I commend you to God and the Word of His grace. I call you blessed and nations.
I commend you to God and the Word of His Grace. I call you blessed and nations.
