As believers, we love to get excited about miracles. Let’s review the purpose and power of miracles and how to make the most of them.
The first thing you must know if you will enjoy them well, is that miracles are NOT the greatest thing God can and desires to give you. As much as they reflect an outpouring of His love, there are greater ways He has to do that for us who are ready to receive. If you are in intimate relationship with Him, you know this, and you know that one of the greatest ways He demonstrates His love to us is through His Word- especially His Word of instruction. Do not get me wring, we praise God for the miracle of life itself. But the gift of eternal life, especially after the fall of man, which caused the need for a thing like miracles to begin with, is greater. Him trusting us with information, secrets and instructions is better. The work He does and desires to do on your heart is better.
The next thing I want us understand about miracles is that they are not an excuse to be and remain an irresponsible Christian. Rather, miracles are gentle reminders of His commitment to us as He uses them to help us carry out His will (Ask Moses in Exodus 14). They are also what God uses to introduce us to new dimensions of Himself (Ask the early church in the book of Acts or any of the 12 disciples).
The last one I want to make mention of is that miracles are for those of us who made a decision to follow Christ to use to introduce to God and His loving character and priorities to others. Ask Paul in the book of Acts.
