“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” -Romans 12:1
Beloved,
To follow Christ is to release control. It is to kneel where others stand tall. It is to echo His words in Gethsemane: “Nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39).
This world preaches self—self-expression, self-fulfillment, self-protection. But Christ leads us in the opposite direction: surrender. You cannot follow Him and stay in charge. The road of intimacy is paved with submission.
Yielded living is not weakness—it is worship. It is trusting that God’s will is not only better, but perfect. It is resting in the truth that if obedience leads to suffering, then resurrection is near. It is choosing God’s applause over man’s approval: “For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).
This is where the Christian life finds its fullness—not in striving, but in surrender. Not in pleasing all, but in following the One.
Reflect on these:
• Who is really in control of my life?
• In whose eyes am I still trying to shine?
• Am I striving to do God’s will or my own?
Prayer: Father, not my will. Not my way. Not my agenda. I lay it down again. Teach me to trust You when the path is dark and the cost is high. May Your will be my delight, and Your pleasure my reward. Amen.
