Vessels II
2 Corinthians 2:7
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”
You are not a biological accident. You are a vessel, carefully crafted by and for your Maker. You were honorably chosen by Him for noble cause. The first among those causes is intimacy with Him. This starts with genuine surrender of your life to Him. Where I came from, many people “gave their life” when it was happening to do so and while they were moved by excitement. They may have said they gave their lives to Him publicly and they may genuinely believe they are born again. But they never went through a process of total surrender, talk less the process of making or being made whole as only God can do:
2 Timothy 2:21
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,
The first cause we have been crafted for is that of His glory. God must get the glory out of your life. This starts with us totally surrendering our lives to Him- not just with lip service. He desires total surrender. Have you given your life to Christ? Is it time for you to rededicate your life to Him? If you said yes, the heavens are rejoicing! Our opening scripture talks of “earthen” vessels. In other Words, we must go through the process of being made and tried by fire and the like. As you give your life to Him, let Him mold and make you to be fit for His use. If you have not totally surrender your life to Him, the time to do so is now. We will talk more on this next time.
